Mango’s scientific name is Anacardiacea Manguifera. It is a fruit from the Inter-tropical Zone. Mango-Fruit has a sweet tasting fleshy pulp. The Mango Fruit’s skin is normally green at the beginning becoming a yellow to orange colour as it ripens. Mango-Fruit has a mild acidic flavour before it ripens completely. Mango-Fruit is a very popular fruit in the tropics; largely, because of its sweet taste; and, its healthful nature.
Mango-Fruit has excellent nutritional and therapeutic properties: Mangos are high in vitamin C, dietetic fibre, potassium and vitamins B1, B2 and Niacin. Mango-Fruit is also known to be a diuretic and a laxative; and, hailed as aiding in the prevention of colon and cervical cancers because of its fibre; vitamin and mineral rich properties; and, phytochemicals (isoflavones and antioxidants).
